Blue Funeral – Thoughts of the Damned (2010)

Country: Netherlands
Style: Gothic / New Wave / Darkwave

The album opens with the song “Better off Dead”. A song that may remind you of 80s bands like Depeche Mode or OMD. From the moment the chorus (‘voices inside my head saying you’re better off dead’) comes in, it’s perfectly clear: this is not another happy pop album… Songs like “Fine Wine and Cigarettes”, “Alone” and “Prodigal Son” describe the feeling of emptiness while “Old and Ugly” could easily be about drugs, depression, death or a failed romance.
